Bumble Account Banned: Why It Happens and How to Appeal
When Bumble bans an account, it's called a "block": the app shows a notice that you've been blocked, and you can't use the account anymore. The most common reasons are spam and promotion, fake or misleading photos, behaviour reported by other members, and using automation to match. To appeal, use the appeals form linked in the notification Bumble sent you, or contact support from the app and choose "See why I was blocked." Making a new account or using a VPN to get around the block is ban evasion, and Bumble removes those accounts when it finds them.
This post covers why Bumble blocks accounts, how to find out what happened, how appeals work, and how to keep accounts you run from getting there.
What does "blocked from Bumble" mean?
It's Bumble's word for a ban. A blocked account can't swipe, match or message, and the notice usually doesn't go into detail about the reason.
Bumble also gives warnings and restrictions for less serious problems. A block is the strongest action. Bumble's own explainer on what gets you kicked off Bumble says breaking its guidelines can get you banned "for good".
A block isn't a shadowban. If you can still log in and chat with old matches but nobody new sees you, that's a visibility problem, not a block. See Bumble shadowban.
Why does Bumble block accounts?
Bumble's Community Guidelines list what's not allowed. The reasons that block the most accounts:
Spam and promotion. Bumble's spam rules ban unsolicited promotion of your social media or website in private messages, misleading links, images with links or QR codes, and creating so many accounts that it disrupts other members.
Fake or misleading photos. At least one photo has to show only you, with your full face visible. Someone else's photos, or AI or heavily edited photos used to deceive, count as an inauthentic profile.
Failing photo verification. If a profile is reported as fake, spam or a scam, Bumble can ask for a verification selfie in a random pose. If the selfie doesn't match the photos, the profile is removed.
Reports from other members. Harassment, sexual content without consent, hate and pressure to move off the app all get reported, and enough reports lead to a review.
Automation. Bumble says using automation or scripting to make matches isn't allowed.
Using the wrong mode. Flirting on Bumble For Friends or Bumble Bizz can lead to a warning or a ban.
Ban evasion. Creating a new account, or using a VPN, to get around a restriction or ban.
How do you find out why you were blocked?
Contact Bumble support. There are three routes:
- In the app: open your Profile, tap the question mark in the top right, scroll down and tap Start Chat. Bumble's assistant can pass you to a person.
- On the web: use Bumble's contact page and choose See why I was blocked.
- By email: Bumble's terms list [email protected] for questions and complaints.
Include your Bumble user ID. Bumble says it helps support find your account faster.
How do you appeal a Bumble block?
Through the appeals form linked in the notification you got when Bumble took action. If you can't get to it, contact support using the routes above.
When you write the appeal:
- Say clearly why you think the decision was wrong.
- Give as much detail as you can: what you were doing when it happened, and anything that explains it.
- Keep it calm and factual. One clear appeal beats several angry ones.
In the EU, Bumble's Digital Services Act page says you have six months to dispute a block. Bumble doesn't publish how long a review takes.
Don't make a new account while you wait. Bumble's guidelines say new accounts or VPNs used to get around a ban are removed when found. Bumble also requires a phone number to stop people having several accounts, so a new profile on the same number is easy to link.
How do you keep Bumble accounts from getting blocked?
Make each account one real person, and keep its activity at a level a real person would reach.
Onimator is software that drives the real Bumble app on Android phones, cloud phones and emulators. These are the defaults its Bumble guides recommend for new accounts:
| Setting | New accounts | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Percent to Like | 40–60%, never 100% | Matching guide |
| Delay between swipes | Random, 2–6 seconds | Matching guide |
| Daily right-swipe cap | 15–20, then ramp up with auto-increment | Matching guide |
| Messages per day | 10–15, with a separate cap on first messages | Messaging guide |
| Active hours | Around 8:00 to 23:00, never 24/7 | Timer guide |
These are ceilings, not targets. A few habits matter as much as the numbers:
No links, handles or QR codes in early messages or photos. That's exactly what Bumble's spam rules describe.
Real photos of one real person per account, with the face clearly visible, so verification passes if it's asked for.
Vary every opener with spintax, the match's name or AI-written lines. Identical messages are what spam filters look for.
One stable IP per account, in the city the profile claims. See mobile vs residential vs datacenter proxies.
Log in and verify by hand. Onimator never logs in for you. It automates the account that's already open in the app.
For the same problem on Tinder, see Tinder error 40303.
Bumble's rules don't allow automation, including automated matching. Any automation on Bumble carries risk, and nothing here removes it. What you control is how much each account looks like a real person.
FAQ
Why was my Bumble account blocked?
Usually for spam or promotion, fake or misleading photos, failing photo verification, reports from other members, or using automation to match. Contact support and choose "See why I was blocked" to ask about your account.

Use the appeals form linked in the notification Bumble sent you. If you can't access it, contact support in the app (Profile, question mark, Start Chat) or through Bumble's contact page.
