Tinder Account Under Review: Why It Happens and How Long It Takes

"Under review" means Tinder has paused your account while it checks it against its rules. It isn't a ban. According to Tinder's help centre, a review usually follows multiple reports from other users, and if no violation is found the account is let back in. If one is found, the outcome can be a permanent ban.

This post is for people running Tinder accounts as a traffic source: agencies, creators and OnlyFans or affiliate teams. A single dater sees "under review" once and waits. Someone running several profiles sees it far more often, and usually for reasons that have nothing to do with one bad match.

What does "under review" mean on Tinder?

It's a hold. While an account is under review you usually can't swipe or message, and Tinder checks it for anything that breaks its Terms of Use or Community Guidelines. The review ends one of two ways: the account comes back as it was, or Tinder takes action against it.

Review isn't the same as a shadowban. Under review is visible and blocks you. A shadowban is invisible: the app works, but nobody sees your profile.

Why does Tinder put an account under review?

There are two main routes in.

Reports from other users. This is the reason Tinder itself gives. Enough reports in a short time and the account is held while someone looks.

Failed or flagged verification. Tinder uses a video selfie for Photo Verification, and in some regions a mandatory Face Check. The selfie is compared with your profile photos. According to Tinder's Face Check FAQ, it's also used to estimate your age, reduce fraud and help make sure no other profile is using your likeness.

That last part matters more than anything else in this post if you run several accounts.

The same face on several profiles is exactly what Face Check is built to catch. Running a set of accounts with one person's photos, or with photos that don't match the person verifying, is the fastest route to a review that doesn't end well.

What else triggers a review on a multi-account setup?

For operators, reports usually come from behaviour that annoys people or looks fake:

Messages that read like spam. The same opener sent to every match, or a link in the first message, gets reported fast.

Photos that don't add up. Stock images, heavily edited photos, or a set of pictures that clearly aren't one person.

Swiping that looks automated. Right-swiping everyone, all day, is the loudest bot signal in Tinder matching. See why 100% right-swiping kills your Tinder account.

Accounts that look connected. Several profiles on one network, one device or the same photos read as one operator. When one gets reported, the others tend to follow.

Tinder's rules don't allow bots or automated swiping. Any automation carries risk, and nothing in this post removes it. What you control is how much risk each account carries.

How long does a Tinder review take?

Tinder doesn't publish a fixed time. What people report is broadly this:

Situation What people usually report
Photo Verification selfie being checked Minutes to a few hours
Verification sent to a person to check Around a day or two
Account held after reports A few days, sometimes longer
Still under review after a week The review probably didn't go your way

Treat these as typical reports, not promises. Some accounts clear in an hour, some never come back.

If a verification looks stuck on the phone, check tinder.com in a desktop browser. Some users report the status updating there while the app still shows "under review".

What should you do while your account is under review?

Mostly, nothing. Waiting is the only reliable move, but a few things help:

  1. Don't create a new account to get around it. A new profile with the same phone number, photos or face is likely to be linked straight back, and using a new account to dodge a review or a ban breaks Tinder's rules.
  2. Don't keep retrying verification with different people or photos. Each mismatch is another reason to doubt the account.
  3. If verification failed, redo it properly: face fully in frame, nothing covering it, good light, neutral expression, and the same person as in the profile photos. Those are the rejection reasons Tinder lists on its Photo Verification page.
  4. Contact Tinder support if it drags on past a week with no change.

How do you avoid reviews when running several Tinder accounts?

Make each account a believable, separate person, and keep its behaviour well inside what a person does.

Onimator is software that drives the real Tinder app on Android phones, cloud phones and emulators. It never logs in or verifies for you: you sign in and complete any selfie check yourself, and the bot automates the account that's already open. These are the defaults its Tinder guides recommend:

Setting Recommended Why
Percent to Like 40–70%, never 100% Being selective looks human and protects visibility
Swipes per session Random, about 5–10 on new accounts A fixed number repeats
Delay between swipes 2–4 seconds, never Min = Max Real people look before swiping
Active hours Around 7:00 to 22:00, never 24/7 No swiping at 4am
Daily cap Low at first, with auto-increment New accounts ramp instead of jumping
Openers Spintax, the match's name or AI-written lines No two matches get the same message

The Matching, Messaging and Timer guides cover where each setting lives. Several accounts on one phone each run in their own cloned app, set in the Overview tab.

A few habits matter as much as the settings:

One real person per account. Each profile's photos and its verification selfie have to be the same person, and no two accounts should share a face.

Earn the link. Move a match off Tinder only after a real conversation. A link in the first message is a report waiting to happen.

Separate networks. Accounts that share an IP look connected. See mobile vs residential vs datacenter proxies.

Watch for the quiet version too. An account that clears review can still be shown to fewer people afterwards. The Tinder shadowban post covers how to tell.

FAQ

Does "under review" mean my Tinder account is banned?

No. It's a hold while Tinder checks the account. If no rule was broken, it comes back. If one was, Tinder can ban it.

How long does a Tinder account stay under review?

Tinder doesn't publish a time. Selfie checks often clear in minutes or hours, manual checks in a day or two, and report-based reviews can take several days.

Why is my Tinder account under review right after photo verification?

The selfie may not have matched your profile photos clearly enough, or it was sent to a person to check. Make sure your face is fully visible, well lit and matches the photos on the profile.

Can I make a new Tinder account while one is under review?

You shouldn't. A new account with the same number, photos or face is easy to link to the old one, and using it to get around a review or ban breaks Tinder's rules.

Can using the same photos on several accounts get them reviewed?

Yes. Tinder's Face Check is designed to help make sure no other profile is using your likeness, so the same face across several profiles is exactly what it looks for.
